LWIC roof decks are composite systems cast over galvanized metal decks, structural concrete, wood decks, or existing roof structures. Each system is created using a blend of water, Portland cement, foam, and EPS holey board. The result is a lightweight, thermally efficient, and fire-resistant roof system that enhances structural performance while reducing overall building weight.

Benefits of Using LWIC on Your Roof

When used in combination with Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) insulation, LWIC offers exceptional performance and long-term benefits. This combination provides positive drainage, superior thermal resistance, and excellent fire ratings. EPS delivers an R-value of approximately R4 per inch, while LWIC contributes R1 per inch, allowing architects and builders to design roofs with a wide range of insulation levels up to 48 inches of EPS.

Lightweight insulating concrete systems provide one-and-a-half-hour to two-hour UL fire ratings and can often eliminate the need for separate spray fireproofing on the underside of a metal deck.
