Rolling Plains Construction played a pivotal role in the development of the Populus Hotel, a 13-story landmark in downtown Denver renowned as the first carbon-positive hotel in the United States. Our team expertly applied spray-applied fireproofing and intumescent coatings, ensuring the building’s structural integrity and compliance with fire safety standards.
Designed by Studio Gang and developed by Urban Villages, Populus draws inspiration from Colorado’s native aspen trees, featuring a distinctive facade with eye-shaped windows that provide both aesthetic appeal and functional shading. The hotel’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of low-carbon materials, absence of on-site parking to encourage alternative transportation, and initiatives like planting a tree for every guest stay. The rooftop, designed by Superbloom, serves as a habitat for local wildlife and offers panoramic views of the city.
